The AI Asia Pacific Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Janet Wong to serve on its Board of Advisors.
Janet Wong, CFA, currently serves as an Investment Stewardship Specialist at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. Based in Hong Kong, she oversees investee companies’ social issues including supply chain and human rights.
Janet has worked in the financial services industry since 2014. In her recent roles as an Investment Stewardship Specialist in London and Hong Kong, she engaged with listed companies on material ESG topics, including responsible use of technology, artificial intelligence and data governance. Her previous lead on the ESG theme AI Ethics and Data Governance at Federated Hermes Equity Ownership Services (EOS) was shortlisted as UNPRI Stewardship Project of the Year 2020.
She also previously contributed to our report 2021 Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence in the Asia-Pacific Region, advocating for companies’ disclosure of their AI governance and its implications:
“at minimum investors are expecting to see that the following elements can be demonstrated:
- Evidence of AI governance and oversight within the company, including clear responsibility on the board level to oversee AI-related issues
- Evidence of public commitment to trust the AI
- Evidence of how the company is operationalising these ethical principles.”
Janet’s expertise working on the intersection of investment and ESG engagement is an important addition to our Board of Advisors.
